Re: What makes a bloodite tick?

Not a perquisite to enjoying Blood, but being into horror did contribute to "love at first sight" when I started playing it in my early childhood. I was into monsters, ghosts, haunted houses, graveyards, spiders, etc. so it felt like a game that was tailor-made for me. What retained me for...

Re: Ranking non- mod Blood weapons

The tommy gun would be my choice for dedicated cultist extermination since it prevents them from firing back on any difficulty setting. For generalized killing, shotgun-flare-TNT is a solid and fun combo that can tackle most ranges and enemy damage type resistances. I try not to use the napalm launc...

Re: The Altar of Stone Jukebox

I re-read my post here and realize that I said too much, and not enough at the same time. Off topic i know, but I do not want to give the wrong impression .Besides, no reason for keeping things secret since I am not giving out any personl info. I may as well get it out. I am not into the tease thin...

Re: The Altar of Stone Jukebox

About Russian: I was considering teaching French in exchange for Russian lessons. Things is...Summer is the worst time. Less club shifts / stag stuff in favor of Yacht gigs to take care of stuff. And there is no knowing when and where or for how long (and I often refuse if I think its too shady). S...

Re: Modders vs Puritans

Hi Dead Reckoner Never tried Blasphemous. I'm easy to freak out when it comes to the satanic, so maybe I should avoid this. Don't feel like doing a buncha Hail Mary's to calm down!! About PSX doom: I use a gzdoom port to play it (mouse and KB gal here...) instead of the original doom. The darker at...

Re: The Altar of Stone Jukebox

Hey that is so cool. I hope you did not lose your Russian as it is such a beautiful language. Probably not a good idea to talk politics here if you are in the US, with all the hysterical Russophobia (which seems to extend to Russian speaking Ukrainians from the Donbas). So unfair. So dark. On a bri...

Re: The Altar of Stone Jukebox

A Russian cover yousay. ...are ya Russian? I love all things Russian . Dostoevski. Winning ww2. Wish I could speak it. A girl I once was close to was from the Donbass, a few years back. Originally Russian-speaking Ukrainian as well, But I grew up in the US. Did you ever experiment with learning Rus...

Re: Modders vs Puritans

Hey Dead reckoner How bout this for a blood track? (NSFW) I think it would fit perfectly without the vocals. Interesting to see Eyes Wide Shut mentioned in the same thread as PSX Doom. I noticed a resemblan...

Derniere Danse. top song when in HS in Montreal. Tempus fugit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5KAc5CoCuk Groovy. On the topic of French songs, this one has been stuck in my head the past few weeks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abfQQ1hzN9M I was originally exposed to the Russian cover of it, but...

Re: Ports for retrogames

For Blood, DN3D and Shadow Warrior: mostly GDX. NBlood for larger mapsets and multiplayer. Doom: GZDoom. I prefer to turn freelook off for a more streamlined and classic experience except when playing newschool maps that call for it. Used to spend a lot of time in Skulltag and ZDaemon multiplayer ag...

Re: Modders vs Puritans

. That's where I would have liked a fresh injection of music the most. What kind of music would you suggest for this? The guy who did doom 64 music ? (I think his name is Hodges) Heavy metal stuff quake 2 style or ambient foreboding stuff quake style? (I myself prefer ambient stuff like quake or do...

Re: Modders vs Puritans

Both the CD and midi tracks are very dear to me, but they show flaws when one spills Blood for so many years. CD soundtrack has too few tracks for Blood's large and diverse set of maps, and the steep tempo changes don't correspond with the pace of the gameplay. One potential solution may be an adapt...

Re: Modders vs Puritans

Back in 2020, I first started playing Blood on an inherited win 98 rig. It blew me away and brought back PTSD memories seeing my uncle playing it in 1999 when I was 4. So ..after a coupla yrs of playing DOS Blood in win 98, I shifted to using Nblood on win 10. (Nightdive's port IMHO is a mess) I no...

When was it possible to purchase Blood in retail?

Blood was released in 1997, OUWB was released in 1998. How long after the release would one still be able to walk into a store and see brand new copies of Blood on shelves? At least as early as 2003, I remember Blood already feeling like ancient history and the only opportunities I saw for obtaining...
