As a fan of the Painkiller FPS games, I was really looking forward to the reboot. I was skeptical from the start because of the announced focus on co-op.
Now I've played the reboot, and it's very, very bad.
That might sound harsh, but the game has absolutely nothing to do with the original series.
Co-op hero loot shooters don't resonate well with the original target audience.
So, they gave the fans exactly what they didn't want and what no one ever asked for. And the very negative reviews prove me right. The worst part is that they've destroyed the chance to revive this cult series.

Re: The Painkiller reboot that nobody wanted
I saw the trailer for it a bit over a month ago, I think. It didn't really look that interesting to me, and I was disappointed that it was only co-op. The original game is on the very short list of titles which I bought almost immediately upon seeing the demo release of. It's a shame to hear that it's not particularly good.
